Pembuatan dan Karakterisasi Ferit Heksagonal BaFe12O19

Polycrystalline hexagonal ferrites BaFe12O19 have been prepared by standard processes of ceramics. Pure BaC03 and Fe2O3 powders of non-stoichiometric compositions Ba . n Fe203 (n = 5.5, 5.7.and 5.9) were ball-milled and calcined for several hours. Addition of 0.5% NaF flux reduced the calcining temperature by 1500C-2000C thus enabling the formation of hexagonal ferrite at 9000C instead of 1100­C - 12000C. Magnetically aligned specimens were characterized by X-ray diffraction using MoKα radiation. These specimens were also examined by neutron diffraction with λ = 1.071 A and standard magnetic measurements. All the present results were compared with those obtained from the BaFe12O19 specimens manufactured by Sumitomo, Co, Japan. The results clearly showed that the present made ferrites had crystal structures and magnetic properties fairly similar to those specimens manufactured by Sumitomo, Co and thus enabling them to be used as permanent magnet material.
